On Sunday, we got to head out to a nearby farm in Leetonia, Ohio & search for our family Christmas tree. This is a family tradition that I remember doing with my parents & sisters as a kid and I’m so happy we get to enjoy this with our children now. It is a JOY seeing the world through their eyes & hearing their take on life’s experiences. Josh & I have gotten a real Christmas tree every year since we were married in 2010 so we’re keeping the tradition strong! The day we went out was unseasonably warm (which felt like a heat wave with the cold Fall we’ve had!) and the kids only had to wear sweatshirts, which was really enjoyable. We explored a new-to-us Christmas tree farm this year & there’s a story behind that. We got to photograph a wedding on the property back in July & we adore the family so we wanted to come back to visit & get our tree there! We first got to check it out for their engagement session (which was BEAUTIFUL amidst all of the snow!) and then their wedding day was absolutely perfect with blue skies for miles. They are such a genuine & loving family & we were blessed to get to be part of the wedding so we couldn’t imagine not getting our Christmas tree at their farm!
She is full of her own ideas & does not back down from a confrontation; she will easily & quickly invent justifications & reasons for anything she wants to do. Ever since she was born, she has been a force to be reckoned with & that hasn’t changed over the years. We love her spunk! I’m smitten with this one. He’ll always be my sweet baby. Although he answers, “No. . . big boy” now when I ask him if he’s mommy’s baby. Excuse me while I go cry lol. Both kids got a kick out of riding around on the mule. And we’re also keeping the tradition alive of going to get our Christmas tree with my parents. Grandparent life! Aaaaand this is the face Tenley often makes for posed photos now. She calls it her “bunny face” and she personally finds it hilarious. We were posing in front of the beautiful tree we chose. Dad got to cut down his & mom’s tree. And Josh cut ours down. That’s more like it! She is a spitfire, you guys. Oh my goodness, the daily entertainment, frustrations, fun, and drama we enjoy with this lady is an emotional roller coaster & we adore her so very much! They have a stunning view & the sunset was glorious that evening.
Getting our chubby tree through the wrapping bin was an interesting challenge. Thanks to Dave for his help in doing that & in strapping that massive beast of a tree to the top of our van! Beth helped, too. 🙂 And the friendly farm dog Lou Lou advised us on which tree she thought would look best in our home while patiently allowing our kids to love up on her.We waited until the next morning to decorate.Monkey see, monkey do. All day every day.Josh was just out of view just in case. Concentration face. Tree decorating is serious business, you see. This is one of Kenton’s new favorite expressions to make & it’s really funny when he busts it out.Kenton’s bedhead is one of my current favorite things each day.Well, we hope you enjoyed this blog post of our Christmas tree adventure as much as we enjoyed going & choosing it together! I’ll be honest the decorating portion of the festivities was a little out of control with those two (ha!), but it’ll be a memory we can laugh at down the road. We wish you all the happiest holiday season!
