Since my sister Lisa moved to Boston in 2009, I’ve been there (I think) 7 times. It’s a really fun city & we always enjoy our time there. Tenley has already been there twice & she’s only 12 months old! Our trip this year was both personal & business as we got to take Lisa & Scott’s engagement photos while there. We flew in Saturday, ate grilled cheese at Roxy’s (delish) & then hung out the rest of the day at Lisa & Scott’s place. Scott cooked us a favorite- mexican meatballs. Yum! Tenley was a fan of Aunt Lisa’s bubble blowing abilities. Reading is always a favorite, too.The next day was absolutely rough because it took us almost two hours to get Tenley to take a nap in her unfamiliar surroundings, but with a little patience, we all survived & then drove into the city for burritos at Anna’s & Lisa & Scott’s e-session. Tenley doesn’t normally come along to engagement sessions or weddings, of course, but since we were with family & without a sitter, she came along for the ride in her Tula.
Behind the scenes sister hair smoothing action. haha.Tenley was so happy to be amongst lots of other babies, dogs, and balls in the park! She kept getting really excited and saying “HI!!!!!! BALL! BABY!” If I would’ve let her, she would’ve dove into that brick pit head first. Fearless.Aunt Lisa took her in the pit.And she was happy to get to touch the rather suggestive sculpture therein. We’re thankful our photography subjects agreed to shoot a couple quick family photos for us.And I wanted a quick photo with my sis!
This is Josh’s facial expression as he & Scott make eye contact while the Squirrel Man explains how to say “chipmunk” in ten different languages. If you’re unfamiliar with Squirrel Man, see HERE.She was one tired chica since she only took one short nap that day, but she was so well behaved & sweet despite her tiredness.Sunday night, we got the treat of going to Scott’s parents’ house & having dinner with them & two of his three siblings. Everyone got to make their own personal pizza. It was so delicious & exactly what we needed! Tenley had fun playing with Scott’s niece & nephew, but we didn’t take our camera inside so there aren’t any photos of that action.
The next day was rainy & cold so we hung out, played, and took photos of Tenley.Aunt Lisa & Uncle Scott’s place is not baby proofed so Tenley found lots of interesting toys to play with like this container of juniper berries.I call this Tenley Through Bike Wheel. Those eyes! This one needs printed so I can always remember her baby softness & those beautiful innocent curious eyes. And then I started being very silly so I could see her beautiful smile & hear her goofy laugh. This also needs printed & framed.
When Lisa & Scott got home from work, we lounged & Scott made us some spicy pork over rice with veggies.Aunt Lisa got to play & read again. The chef! Thanks, Scott! Then we ate pie because . . . Pi Day! 🙂 The next morning Scott drove us to the airport & we caught our flight after having to sprint Home Alone style to our gate. Whew! We made it. Security was uncharacteristically slow & took a really long time. By the time we made it through, they were already boarding our plane & the gate was about to close so we sprinted- me with Tenley in her baby carrier saying “Lalalalala” and smiling up a storm at the fun we were having running & Josh carrying Tenley’s carseat, our camera gear in his backpack, and our luggage. I’m sure anyone who saw us got a chuckle out of it & we were SOOOO very thankful that we were able to board & we didn’t miss our flight! Of course, our gate we had to sprint to was literally the very last one in the entire hallway. HAHA! Thank goodness we’ve been working out & doing cardio consistently for the past three months! It was a whirlwind!
Thank you, Lisa & Scott, for your hospitality & for all of the fun! Thanks to the Cannistraro family, too! It was great to meet you guys & we’re excited to see you again in September for the wedding! Yay for Boston & for family time & for this slower season that we are able to travel a bit!
