Quite often it hits us how special our job of photographing weddings is- that happened more than once this past Saturday during Miranda & Anthony’s wedding day. These two have known each other since middle school! Their families are both wonderful & supportive; Anthony’s parents have been married 44 years and Miranda’s have been married for 42. Miranda and her late grandmother were very close; they loved to be together and would often write poetry together. Her grandma was an artist in a lot of ways & Miranda is, too. Miranda paints and plays the banjo and sings and writes poetry. Anthony is fun, loyal to his friends, hard working, and adores his nephews. Miranda and Anthony are best friends and have been for many, many years. Since they grew up in Strutters together in a really small, close-knit community, they have a lot of mutual friends who’ve known them both for more than a decade. Those friends got to stand by their side on their wedding day & cry happy tears as they witnessed Miranda & Anthony’s love story advance to its next chapter- marriage. And Anthony & Miranda honored both of their grandparents by having Anthony’s sister read two beautiful poems during their ceremony- one by Miranda’s grandmother and one by Anthony’s grandmother- both written to their respective husbands. And if this day wasn’t special enough, they were married in the same church that Miranda’s grandparents were married in; the current sanctuary is new since then, but the chapel her grandparents were married in is still part of the church building and we got to take some portraits there. There were so many amazing moments on this day & we’re really happy for Miranda & Anthony. We loved getting to share in their day and can’t wait to share their photos. So without further adieu, here are our favorites from their Youngstown, Ohio wedding day!Anthony’s nephews are so adorable. As I was culling through the thousands of photos we took on this wedding day, this photojournalistic moment of Anthony’s parents and Anthony on the morning of the wedding stopped me in my tracks. Josh has a great eye for composition that takes “ordinary” moments that happen in an instant and turns them into lasting art. That’s always one of our goals on wedding days.Miranda is such a sweet and loving person. She told her mama about a dozen times how beautiful she looked and she even helped her mom with her makeup on her own wedding day.All of Miranda’s childhood friends were so adorably excited for Miranda & Anthony. This was the “Oh my gosh, you’re getting married” moment after Miranda got into her wedding dress at the church. And then Miranda and her dad made me cry. Miranda had their pianist play a Led Zeppelin song that’s meaningful to her and Anthony as she walked down the aisle, which was a fun surprise to Anthony. He loved it.This moment brought to you by the grandmothers’ love poems I mentioned. This is the chapel where Miranda’s grandparents were married. We love that they wanted to recreate some photos here. Then we traveled the half a block down the sidewalk to the Mahoning County Courthouse for bridal party and bride & groom portraits. This was a fabulous location that day because it was really chilly and windy outside. This bridal party was fun. We could goof around with them and they joked right back without missing a beat.Blooming Crazy did a great job bringing Miranda’s vision to life with the wedding flowers. She wanted the calla lilies included, as they were her grandmother’s favorite.Mr. Anthony’s looked sparkly & pretty for the reception! Sweet Grace Anna’s baked the wedding cake. The anniversary dance was inspiring! There were quite a few couples in attendance who were married for 35+ years and, of course, Miranda’s parents and Anthony’s parents have both been married for 40+ (which is awesome!).And we’re always glad when we’re nearby when a moment like this happens between a grandma and her grandson.Congratulations, Miranda & Anthony! Thank you for choosing us to photograph the first day of your marriage. We pray for the very best for you both and all of the joy you could possibly fit into a lifetime together! To quote one of the lovely Maids of Honor, “Miranda, may Anthony always be the Ben Wyatt to your Leslie Knope and the Jim Halpert to your Pam Beesly.” We can’t wait to share the rest of your wedding photos with you both soon! Thank you again!
If you’re new to our blog, hey & welcome! We’re Josh & Danielle, a husband and wife wedding photography team in Columbiana, Ohio. We photograph weddings mostly in the Youngstown, Ohio area, but we do get to travel for weddings and sessions occasionally and that’s fun! We like listening to true crime/mystery podcasts together, being outside more than inside, playing silly games and chasing around our 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son, and watching The Office, Friends, or Parks & Rec on Netflix while we’re folding a pile of laundry together after the kids go to bed.
