Eeeeek! So exciting! We hired our newborn photographer!
Some of you might be thinking, “What?! You’re not due for another 5 1/2 months. Why hire a photographer now?” Well . . . the thing is, the photographer we chose books up completely for newborn sessions months in advance! As soon as people find out they’re expecting, they contact her to schedule around their due date. Obviously, baby comes on his/her own time so the date isn’t set in stone, but the photographer only books a certain number of newborn sessions each month according to due date so that she’ll have room in her calendar once baby decides to debut into the world. I mean, it’s kind of like wedding photography. People book us 12-24 months before their wedding date. We’re happy & humbled to say that we have had 2016 weddings on our books since May of this year. So it’s not crazy…it’s just advanced planning for something you’re uber excited about! When you’re excited about something & it’s a high priority in your life, you plan ahead and make it happen! 🙂
We wanted our newborn photographer to be someone who specializes in newborn photography and whose style we adore. Also, since our due date is in February, the photos obviously will have to be indoors so we wanted someone with that capability. Enter Traci Ryant Photography. We’re extremely excited to work with her & have her photograph Mini Menning.

Some of you might be thinking, “Ummm…Danielle & Josh, you know you can take photos of your baby, right?!” Of course, we do! And we will! LOTS & LOTS & LOTS! But we also wanted to hire a professional who specializes in newborn photography so that we can get into a couple of shots without having to set a timer and play that game. We want moments of all three of us captured for our baby to cherish when he/she grows up.
And because every blog post is better with a photo, here’s Punky as a wee puppy last Christmas. Trust us, we’ll take plenty of photos of our human baby . . . if the sheer amount of pug photos we have is any indication, we’ll have to invest in a few hundred external hard drives for photos of Mini Menning’s first year. 🙂
