As I’ve written on the blog before, Ashley is my best friend since birth. So you can imagine that I have a lot to say about this wedding. ๐ Ashley & Nic are two of the most generous, kind, and loving people you’ll ever meet. When they’re together, they ooze happiness. Being the Matron of Honor in this wedding and being able to stand just a few feet away from them as they exchanged their vows was one of the best experiences of my life.
Nic’s sister & brother-in-law designed these cute country invitations. And Ashley’s dress is perfect for her. When I saw her try it on in the store, I knew it was THE dress because her eyes lit up the moment she looked at herself in the mirror with it on.
I made her a photo book of all of the highlights of her relationship with Nic, some of their engagement photos (you can see those HERE), and some photos I took throughout Ash’s wedding planning process.
I have to take a moment to rave about Rachel & Jessa of Green Girl Envy, who did our hair and makeup! They’re amazing at what they do and super kind-hearted. Brides, send them an email!
Our other amazing friend, Kristin, being an awesome Maid of Honor:
Ashley & Nic chose to do a first look prior to the wedding ceremony. It was my favorite moment of the entire day!
Pure bliss.
Sometimes in blog posts, I like to tell the story of how a couple met. This time I get to brag a little. ๐ Josh and I introduced Ashley & Nic. We talked about how much they have in common & how great they’d be together so we schemed a way for them to meet. I didn’t want to put Ashley on the spot and not let her know I was trying to possibly fix her up with someone so I asked her if she would like to meet my handsome, funny, lovable friend. How could she say no to that? We had them over to our place for a game night, played cards, and chatted. Nic & Ash hit it off RIGHT away & would not stop talking! ๐ I had to eventually be the party pooper and tell them I was going to bed because it seemed like they were going to talk until the sun came up. But thankfully, their connection didn’t end there. . . and now it never will.
They are so adorable together!
I’m biased, but I’m pretty sure I have the most beautiful friend ever.
The FANTASTIC choice to do a first look gave us plenty of time for photos while hair and makeup were fresh, allowed us to take relaxed family photos, and gave Nic & Ashley the opportunity to go straight from their wedding ceremony to having fun with their guests at the reception that followed at the same location, Snodes Restored Country Barn. Plus, their first moment of seeing each other on their wedding day was intimate and special.
Like I said, prettiest friend in the world:
Kathy Unkefer always pours her heart into her work when it comes to wedding flowers.
Nic was SO happy that day. He looked very handsome & relaxed.
There are photos of the entire bridal party (I promise), but I couldn’t include them in the blog post because of the little babies in them (ring bearer and flower girl) whose parents choose not to post photos of their children online. We must respect parents’ wishes! ๐ But believe me, the photos are great & the babies are way too cute!
My niece was one of the flower girls. Her cuteness is always out of this world, but that day, it was just unbearable. ๐ I couldn’t handle it.
Then it was time for the wedding ceremony. Tim Postle from Lake Mount Church of Christ did an excellent job.
Since I was in the wedding party, Josh had to work alone. He did an outstanding job. I took a few photos that day, but most of them are all him.
This is one of my favorites.
Our talented & artistic friend, Jill, made the cute, little decor on the right. She also played the keyboard during the ceremony.
Nic’s aunt made the cake- great job! And the cupcakes were provided by various family members and friends. ๐
Nic’s sister was all over the centerpieces. They looked lovely.
Yard games! That’s a fun addition to any party!
Matron & Maid of Honor speeches:
Best men speaking:
They shared their first dance as husband and wife to “You Decorated My Life.”
I love this so much. Growing up so close to Ash has always made me feel like her parents are my second parents.
Nic’s mom is one of the sweetest ladies I know. She raised Nic to be compassionate, sensitive, and hardworking.
Addie dancing with Trevor.
We took a few more photos once the golden hour was upon us.
I’m so glad we did.
This photo screams Fall to me.
I’m pretty certain that they could not be happier.
