Everyone wants to be happy, right? Here are a few ways we’ve found to achieve that.
- Count Your Blessings Every Single Day
We know that life can get rough. There will inevitably be sadness, heartbreak, annoyance, and struggles. Believe us, we completely understand the desire to focus on the hardships because they are often the parts of our lives that make us worry, fret, or stress. They can often make their way to the forefront of our minds. But each one of us (no matter how many struggles we have in our life) has an overabundance of blessings to be thankful for! Sometimes I wake up in the morning and, before doing anything else or even getting out of bed, I think about 5 things I’m grateful for in my life. Often that sparks many thoughts in my mind and I can’t stop thinking of all of the amazing blessings in my life. It truly sets the tone for the day! - Be Grateful
The next logical step after counting your blessings is to be grateful. True gratefulness, though, shows through in your life whether you’re in the midst of happy times or if you’re battling sad times. To live a happy life, the ability to be grateful amidst personal struggles will serve you well. I’ve found that being intentionally grateful for conveniences & blessings that I sometimes take for granted keeps me on track to be a happy person. I mean, seriously, we all have way more than we need! Being grateful keeps my mind focused on the positive, which begets happiness. - Help Others
When you set aside time (your most precious & fleeting commodity) in your life to help others, you’ll be more acutely aware of your own blessings, more grateful for them, and will feel rewarded. I can’t remember which silly sitcom it was that I was watching once (probably Friends or How I Met Your Mother), but they were basically saying that no good deed is selfless or completely altruistic because the doer of the good deed always feels satisfied & uplifted simply by doing the good deed. Of course, doing a good deed just to feel good about yourself isn’t the best motivation (haha!), but you understand the point I’m making. If you have a servant’s heart & love & serve others, your life will be enriched beyond belief. You’ll feel happier because you’re using your talents & resources to bless someone else’s life. Just beware! Sometimes when you’re really happy, you’ll laugh & touch your foreheads together & it’ll look like you have a double chin. hehe! Thanks to the wonderful Carlyn K Photography for these photos of our family! If you liked this post, you may also like this one.
