Being wedding photographers in Ohio means that we are busier during the Spring, Summer, & Fall months than we are in the Winter. That’s probably obvious to anyone who lives in the Midwest or in an area where you experience the seasons. Not a lot of people choose to have a big wedding celebration from January-March in Ohio. The reasons are obvious to those of us who know what Winter is all about- cold temperatures, possible snow storms, gray cloudy days, brown grass, and trees with no leaves. Don’t get us wrong, we know Winter can be beautiful! Just read this blog post to see some inspiration for snowy photos! But it’s simply a fact that most weddings in Ohio happen between May and October.
What the heck do we do with ourselves from January through April if we aren’t shooting weddings? We meet with brides & grooms about their upcoming weddings, we revamp our business to improve our workflow & our website, we brainstorm ideas for ways to make our business even better, and we enjoy life. We live the little things. Honestly, I’ve been having a hard time blogging for the past couple of weeks because I feel like no one wants to hear about the mundane aspects of our lives. But then I started thinking about that statement and its implications. The most important thing in the world to us is love. The people we love the most are our family members. While it’s true that during our off-season in this particular season of life with a one-year-old, we’re mostly reading children’s books 43 times a day, changing diapers every 90 minutes or so, chasing our daughter around the house as she giggles, cuddling up watching Fuller House on Netflix, going to church to replenish our souls with positivity, and heading to bed most nights around 9:00 or so, we realized that those little things- those seemingly mundane activities or routines that we go through each day without much thought- they connect us to one another with love. Our life isn’t glamorous, but the little things really are the big things. We might not be getting all fancy & dressed up or going to elaborate date nights or jetting around the world. But the cozy nights in our pajamas eating a simple dinner around the table as a family? Those are full of love. And as we look back on our lives, the times we got together as a family will definitely rank at the very top.
These cell phone snapshots of our life as of late tell stories of happiness, togetherness, and love. And there is absolutely nothing mundane about that. ♥
We finally beat my parents at Euchre after many attempts over the past few years.  Tenley got to have a fun afternoon with my cousins’ kids. We got to go out to dinner as a family for Dad’s birthday. And being silly around the house is one of our favorite things to do! Josh pretends not to like wearing pretty flower headbands, but it’s all an act. He’s so pretty! 😉
