We’re so stoked to share Emily & Rick’s wedding day with you all today! The bride’s and her bridesmaids’ looks were inspired by the lovely Audrey Hepburn; they all looked so classy & elegant! The guys weren’t slouches, though! 🙂 They were dapper in their black and white tuxes with bow ties. The weather on Emily & Rick’s wedding day was . . . interesting. . . and kept us guessing ALL day, but we had a backup plan and location & the ladies’ umbrellas transformed the day into an even more fabulously classy affair. The ceremony took place in Salem at St. Paul’s and the reception was held at The Links at Firestone Farms. If you’ve visited our website or blog at all, it’s no secret that The Links is one of our favorite venues in the area.
The venues don’t matter as much as the love between the couple, of course, and Emily & Rick are undeniably and awe-inspiringly in love with one another. The day was a joy for us to photograph.
I started off the day with Emily and her bridesmaids at her parents’ home where they were having their hair done and their makeup applied by the gorgeous sisters who make up ( <—- see what I did there?)Â Green Girl Envy. (I’ve told you about them before & for good reason; these girls rock!)
The Flower Loft put together the gorgeous bouquets.
While I was with the ladies at Emily’s parents’ home, Josh was with the gentlemen at the church.
Emily borrowed the veil that her mother wore on her wedding day.Â
Lint rolling action:
Breathtaking!
The ceremony provided everyone with smiles & laughs. . . especially these two people having the happiest time of their lives!
This was just after they kissed. I think he’s a little . . . I dunno . . . ECSTATIC & ELATED?! 🙂
Their guests waved ribbon wands after the ceremony to congratulate the newlyweds.
Since it was raining, we spent some time in the barn. The light in there was stunning & this bridal party? What a bunch of rockstars!
Then the rain stopped and the sun came out. Cool!
I usually don’t meet the groomsmen until after the ceremony during the formal photos because I’m hanging with the bridesmaids & Josh is with the guys. When I saw this guy, I immediately knew he was Rick’s brother & I love this photo.
Simply stunning!
Emily’s mom picked these pretty umbrellas up the week of the wedding when she saw the questionable weather forecast and I love her for it! Great job, Mom! 🙂 Even though the rain had subsided, we still rocked out the umbrellas for some bridal party portraits.
Emily requested a shot with her pretty cathedral veil blowing in the wind.Â
We love so many of the shots from their bride & groom session. It was difficult to narrow it down for blog sharing purposes because they’re so perfect together. I love how they look at each other.
Plus, they’re models. 🙂
Lovely, Emily!
Clarencedale Cake designed the red, white, and black wedding cake. They design A LOT of the cakes for weddings we shoot. If you want to see them all, just go to the search bar at the top of our blog & type in Clarencedale Cake.
A tribute to those dear to Emily & Rick who have passed greeted guests in the lobby of The Links.
This little guy was way too cute!Â
After the receiving line upon entering the reception, guests were greeted by the amazing staff with beverages.
And then the Mr. & Mrs. made their grand entrance!
Emily’s sister Elizabeth gave a heartfelt toast about how her little sister is her best friend. She detailed the cute story about how Emily & Rick met while Emily was working at Radio Shack (prior to graduating law school and becoming a lawyer, of course 🙂 ) when Rick responded to a call at Radio Shack related to a robbery. Elizabeth wanted to hear about the robbery, but Emily wouldn’t stop talking about the good looking police officer who responded to the call. ;)Â
Rick’s brother, Stephen’s, toast was short & sweet because he said Elizabeth said everything so beautifully that he was going to say. 🙂 It’s evident he loves and cares about his brother and his new sister.
During their first dance to “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz, the sun was shining in through those beautiful windows like their union was being blessed & those they know in heaven were shining down.
Emily & her dad:Â
She told us that he kept warning her that he was going to dip her at the end of the song. Â He kept true to his promise- like great dads do.
Rick shared a dance with his aunt.
We stole them away for a few short minutes during the reception & this happened just before sunset:
Then the dance floor rocked the entire night & everyone had a fabulous time!
The last song of the night is always such a special time for the bride & groom to hold onto one another and reflect back upon all of the amazingness and love that they’ve been showered with throughout the whirlwind of the wedding day & Emily & Rick did just that. So sweet!Â
Emily & Rick, we thank you both so very much for your trust in us throughout this process, for your kindness, for your friendship, and for the fun! We wish you both a fulfilling and fun marriage that brings you joy and allows you to grow closer year after year.
