Josh & Danielle Files | Personal Post | Canfield Fair 2014 | Something to Crow About

It’s that time of year again! The scents of fried dough, smoked meats, fresh manure, sugary sweets, vinegar, tractor exhaust fumes, and happiness mix and waft through the air. The sounds of cows mooing, children laughing, monster trucks revving their engines, country singers crooning, announcements being made over loud speakers about folks who’ve been separated from their friends, old friends and acquaintances chatting, and rickety rides clicking and clanging mix with one another until they create a homogenous din. Yes, it’s something to crow about. . . the Canfield Fair! Josh & I went yesterday and had a really great time taking in all of the sights, sounds, and smells. . . not to mention the tastes! This guy greeted us as we entered Gate G.
It was lunch time, Kids! So we did not pass Go. We did not Collect $200 (more like we spent it…) 🙂 We just went straight to the Stuffed Hungarian Peppers stand for a Bistro Chicken Sandwich.
My hand is there for size reference. These are not for the faint of stomach. They’re tangy, salty, slightly spicy, and wholly satisfying. They’re served piping hot. I waited a couple of minutes for mine to cool. However…Josh couldn’t help himself and chowed down while reporting to me how he was burning his mouth. The seasoning on the chicken is perfect. It’s not very often we eat fried food, but during the fair…all bets are off! And we really enjoyed these sandwiches! Our next stop was the Fine Arts building. We found out that Josh’s shot from Abby & Corey’s wedding won a ribbon. Cool! 🙂 There were lots of other great entries. We looked at all of the art in the building! And congrats to our friends Josh & Jess of Pixel Pop…two of Josh’s shots won ribbons this year. 🙂This was Josh’s other entry. It’s from Brooke & Dan’s wedding. My entries were from Ashley & Nic’s wedding and Melissa & Quinn’s engagement session. I figured out I have a consistent style that I love by looking at these two images: backlit, dreamy, and romantic. :) We had to stop by my favorite barn- the draft horse barn. A.k.a. the most majestic creatures that’ll allow you to ride them. 🙂They make me feel so small! They’re just beautiful!Altogether, we were at the fair for about 4 and a half hours just hanging out, seeing what we could see, strolling along holding hands, and people watching. It felt like summer finally arrived yesterday because the sun was so hot & the temps were around 90 degrees, which is paradoxical for me because the Canfield Fair has always signified the end of summer in my mind. Food not pictured before it was devoured: french fries with vinegar from Cope’s Concessions (we shared a small), Josh’s frozen yogurt topped with a bunch of crazy toppings like Reese’s cups, chocolate chips, etc, and my caramel apple, which is a fair MUST for me. Josh said he should’ve taken photos of me eating it because my face was covered in caramel and I looked like a little kid. 🙂 That’s what the fair is all about, right?! P.S. Caramel apples are a healthy dessert because they’re a fresh fruit. 😉
